Accountable City Hall
Respect every tax dollar, ask harder questions and make it easier for residents to see what their councillor is doing.
Residents deserve more than a promise to “be responsible.”
Budgets are complicated, major contracts are difficult to follow and residents often only hear about a decision after it is made. My approach is to make the questions, trade-offs and follow-through easier to see.
The Action Plan
Apply a Taxpayer Value Test
Before supporting significant new spending, ask what problem is being solved, the full cost, the measurable result residents should expect, what alternatives were considered and whether an existing service can achieve the same objective more efficiently.
Scrutinize Contracts and Consultant Spending
Consultants can bring expertise the City needs. But significant outside work should have a clear reason, scope, cost and deliverable. I will ask those questions publicly rather than treating consultant spending as automatic.
Hold a Ward 10 Budget Conversation
Before major annual budget decisions, explain the pressures facing the City and Region, the choices on the table and hear directly from Ward 10 residents about priorities, efficiencies and trade-offs.
Explain Major Votes
For significant decisions affecting Ward 10 or residents’ tax bills, publish a plain-language explanation of how I voted and why.
Publish the Ward 10 Results Dashboard
Track significant Ward 10 issues and campaign commitments with a visible status, responsible department or partner, next step and latest public update.
